I like this picture. It reminds me of a Mary Poppins-esque adventure where we stand on the cusp of a brand new adventure.. somehow magically ready to jump into a busy world.
Today we got really close to making the jump. Tickets were purchased, trunks were (mostly) finalized, final goodbyes had been related to family. But about 18 hours before our flight took off, we needed to make a call on whether it was a good idea to leave or not. Megan was sick.
Through much study and prayer we made the God-led decision to hold off on our move to South Asia. My wife had been struggling with abdominal pain - and her decision to ignore it and push-through was becoming harder and harder to follow through on. Saturday we visited the emergency department and discovered it was her gallbladder. They found sludge present. (She hates the idea that she has anything termed a nasty 'sludge' in her body)
She tried controlling her diet but to no avail and we ended up at the doctors office again on Monday, knowing it would most likely delay us - and it is good we did. She was admitted to the hospital and one HIDAscan later, we discovered her gallbladder was only about half-functioning. It has to be removed.
And so, we are not ready to jump into our adventure and journey just yet. But I promise you, we will be able to make that jump very very soon. Just as soon as a the doctor gives her the go-ahead we will be on a plane. (probably around 2 weeks when she can lift heavy things like babies again). And we'll be feeling super-cali-fragilistic-espi-alodocious!
