So, next year, some new teachers are coming to an international school near us and we have heard they are scared to death of Muslims. Honestly, this sounds pretty normal. Lots of people that don't know Muslims are scared of Muslims.
On the other side of that coin are people who have met Muslims - who live beside Muslims - who work with or employ or are employed by Muslims - and those people know Muslims are people, and generally pretty nice people.
Check out this car sticker I saw the other day - it looks like the most normal thing in the world. Just the names are weird... oh yeah, and there is a hijab on the mom. These are popular stickers here. A lot of times there are words above it all that say "Happy Moslem Family"
And truthfully, this is pretty much true. There are radical elements in Islam around the world... and honestly most of the Muslims I've met are scared of them too.
The thing I think most Christians have forgotten is that Muslims are not the enemy. For that matter, neither is Hollywood, any particular party of the government, any movement seeking equality in marriage, or any other group... NONE of these are the enemy. They are all deceived by the enemy but they are not the enemy.
Never forget there is an enemy. He is sly, stealthy, and will use our own thinking to ensure the maximum amount of people are hurt and without hope. Our goal is not to be misguided by the enemy but to continue to share the life-giving gospel with those that need to hear it most... it is not the well that need a doctor, but the well. How can we assist with this? That is the question we must answer... what will God have us do?
