Literally five minutes (getting into the car, skirting 2 u-turns that add a couple minutes, and getting out of the car) around the corner, from our house is a MMA dojo. The instructor seems to really know his stuff - he has posters on the walls with places he's fought...
A few weeks ago he had a substitute teacher because he was at a competition in our old city on the Island of Java.
But he has two sons and a three year old daughter. And he loves our girls. He says they both have the eyes of a fighter! We try to take opportunities to talk to other parents as our kids practice together. It is good conversation and culture practice if nothing else - but we keep trying to turn the conversations towards spiritual things.
It feels good to try to find some ways to take root - although we still feel like this isn't quite home yet. Perhaps soon it will really begin to feel more like we belong. Thanks for your prayers to this regard!
