Hello from Nepal!

We have finally arrived on the field.  It has been a while since we have posted - because things have been pretty busy.

We were 18 hours from leaving about 3 weeks ago, when Megan's occasional stomach ills became a much larger issue.  She ended up having her gall bladder taken out on Monday, June 22nd.  She recovered a couple weeks, and then we came on to South Asia.  We have had internet issues (and still haven't resolved these - making for difficulties in communicating) We hope to resolve these soon.

We are currently house-sitting for friends.  This is the house - pictured here.  It is very nice. There is a house helper and a gardener (of course the yard consists of what you see plus a 2 foot walkway around the house)... and marble floors and stairs.

There is also no air-conditioning - but we have fans that keep us cool.  There are power outages (load shedding) for 10 or so hours per day... but we have a battery power inverter that gives us fans and such when the power is out.  We utilize water pumped to 2 roof-top tanks.  Brown water is from a well and operates the toilets. Drinking water is from a cistern in the garage floor and runs our fresh water.  When the cistern runs out, we call for more water.  All drinking water must be filtered (and right now so is Miriam's bath water till we can explain matters to her)

Saturday is worship day in Nepal.  We were told we could walk the streets of our neighborhood and find a church.  We tried this and by the time we walked out of our front gate we heard music.  It turns out there is a church literally just around the corner from our house (a few hundred steps or so!).  We worshipped with them, found a few people who might translate for us next week, Lorelei went to Sunday School with their children (and was pulled literally a million different directions! "Lore..come here.... Lore come here....")

We are getting adjusted to things here - and we are preparing to worship in English this morning at the International church.

We have many experiences to share.  Elephants at the zoo. Visiting our neighborhood KFC (not what you, or we, would think... it was a Kwality Food Cafe... and really good)  taking taxi rides to places we don't even know how to get to... and many more...  We will try to have a newsletter out and a video to share as well.

Blessings for now!
