Our New Home

This article seems a little premature - as we likely will not be moving for another year.  We must complete our language learning, and our daughter will complete a year of school in a local international school.

However, it is also timely, because we are about to launch an exploratory vision trip to have our first glimpse of the island and city we will soon call home.

P-city is located on the equator (read HOT) and is a bit of an anomaly in Indonesia.  It has a population of 570,000+ people  (only 51% Muslim, 24% Catholic, 12% protestant, and 12% Buddhist).  The large Buddhist population is due to a large number of Chinese descent people living in this area.

This will be where we live, and where I will teach - there is a religious school in P-city where I will work to train national pastors.  However, all education at this school is only in the local languages, therefore, the need for us to be fluent in the local language before moving there.

Our vision trip will hopefully involve a tour of the school, meetings with school leaders, checking out stores and possible neighborhoods where we could move - all with the hope of making our eventual move in about a year much easier.  You can be in prayer for us as we prepare for this trip at the beginning of August.  Preparations and planning for meetings and such are beginning even now!
