We seem to have only found little boys to play with in our neighborhood so far. Usually little girls are only allowed to help around the house -while little boys have the freedom to roam wherever they please. But today, we may have formed some good, lasting friendships!
Lorelei was riding her bicycle off some sweet ramps we made at the end of our neighborhood, and we discovered several sets of watchful eyes overseeing our activities from a hole in the concrete wall next to our neighborhood.
Next thing we knew, these two little *GIRLS!* came down and sat, watching Lorelei play. These are the first girls from the local village we have seen 'out and about' since we moved here in March. I tried to do some quick brainstorming with Lorelei on easy games we could play - and finall realized I knew the words for "Stop" and "Run".
Redlight /Greenlight it was. I quickly explained the rules and play the part of the traffic controller for the first round and they quickly took over the game. Lorelei even got into it and was decided as the first person to reach 'it'... and got to say the words in Bahasa (great language practice!!)
By the end of the afternoon we had served them all cold water (which they found hilarious that our water was cold...) and invited them to our house so they would know where we live and could come play again sometime. We finished up by showing them some of our 'just for fun' string tricks.
Awesome fun. Awesome to see Lorelei playing with Indonesians. And as they left, one little girl turned and said 'can we meet tomorrow?'... Awesome.
