Fashion and color sensibilities in another country really have us beginning to feel "foreign" again. Everything becomes "normal" and "usual"... and then you are tasked with something like "outfit your home from scratch".
There is a plethora of furniture available, but needless to say, Indonesians like things to look a little differently than we do. The photo below is a case in point.
Fashion sense here seems to be somewhere near the loud colors of the 70s in the states. Luckily, most stores have a 3rd or 4th story with bland non-usual choices that seem to match western sensibilities a little better. You just have to look hard... and ask where the furniture is that no one wants.
