You wouldn't think that a desk in the back of a three car garage could be imposing - but it can be. The Indian consulate in Atlanta has it's walk-in services housed in the three car garage of a house.  You walk in, walk around the metal detector that no one monitors, bypass the ticket number machine that no one calls numbers from, and sign the list on the desk.

Being my second time in, it built some confidence knowing the dos and donts of this interaction. We watched first timers pause at the metal detector.  We saw them take a useless number ticket.  We see them get called back up to the receptionist to sign in their name and purpose of visit.

We had a 'good' meeting with the vice consul.  No real answers, but he got to ask lots of questions to which we provided honest and upfront answers.  At the end of our time he said he would reconsider our documents and we shook hands and left.  We are in a waiting stage now - we will hopefully hear his final decision in The next few days.
