Customer Service? Internet in Indonesia

'Cause sometimes when you try to order internet, it's office dress up day.

So, the full internet story here is

1) We were busy and it sounded like it would take some time to sign up - waited a few weeks.
2) Showed up one afternoon around 2, and there were 100 people in line.  told to come 8am.
3) Came at 8am.  Perfect.  Signed up. no problem.
4) Problem.  Must be a Indonesian national with ID# to get internet. (what??)
5) Problem solved, use someone else's #... (internet marketing did it for me, actually)
6) They come to the house and say there is another problem...the "box is full"
7) I go back to the office.  8am.  Sign says open.  They open at 8am.
8) What do you know, it's dress up day.
9) There's not even giving entry numbers... Indonesians are getting mad.
10) 8:10 they bring out entry numbers. But still taking photos of themselves on costume day.
11) I figure I'll take photos too.  (see above).  They ask me to sit.
12) I tell them I'll stand and watch them take photos of themselves.
13) Standing and watching them reminds them they have customers (it worked!)
13) They've been open 20 minutes.
14) They finally tell me I can't get internet until 5 more people in my neighborhood want internet.
15) They are the only internet company in town.
16) Go by Gigs on our hotspot.

So.... the next time you are concerned about customer service... or you wonder "what is the big deal with a government subsidized single entity that owns a monopoly on an entire division of products... let me show you the ineptness of our local internet/telephone company.

Thank you.

oh, and this internet provider blocks netflix - but netflix blocks VPNs... but luckily, I found enough of a loophole I could at least cancel our account since we can't use it anymore...  not worth the trouble... or the bandwidth at the prices we're paying for our temporary internet solution.
